Why wont my 2016 13" MacBook Pro turn on after I replaced the battery?

i recently decided to replace the battery on my late 2016 13 inch Macbook pro, the Macbook had been sitting for well over a year without being touched so when i tried to power it on obviously there were zero signs of life. As the Mac had been sitting so long without being charged i assumed right away that it was the battery. I ordered a replacement battery from ifixit and installed it, when i tried to power it on... nothing. i went back and checked over every step and made sure every cable was where it was supposed to be. Does anyone know whats wrong?
