Released in June 2019, the Valve Index comes either in a full kit with the Index Headset, Index Controllers, and Index Lighthouses, or as separate components.

Need to find the correct the correct screw sizing for the speakers

My sons left speaker fell off and the screw is long gone. The speaker itself needed replaced so I ordered a new one from ifixit. Got the replacement and it doesn't come with a screw. I found this guide on ifixit with a link to some screws -> Where to get replacement screw for Valve Index?

So I figured I could order the size listed in that post: M1.7x8mm

Ordered some off eBay and found out that the length is correct but the M size is incorrect. The original is slightly bigger then the ones I ordered.

Does anyone know the actual size of the screw for the index speakers?

I will buy some but have no idea what to get, I even popped down to my local ace hardware but they don't have anything small enough.

Update (06/07/23)

I have found success, a M2 8mm screw will fit the headphones.

Not sure on the tolerance but I took a chance on M2 size screws. Here is what I got off of amazon -> https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09TVP1G5B?psc...

Do you have/can you buy/can you borrow a caliper to measure the outer diameter of the original screw?

Thanks dino0... I am an idiot, I do have some calipers. I took a bunch of measurements and get 1.93mm in diameter. Not exactly sure how accurate my cheapo calipers are. For reference I checked the 1.7mm screws I bought and they measured 1.68mm. Now I need to figure out how that would transfer to buy it off ebay size.

@robertkell36790 Maybe it's an imperial screw like #1 or 5.64"? Or, also if uncommon, metric M1.9 screws do exist (and 1.93 would be in tolerance)

Congratulations, now we can "close" the question - just so that it can be used as a reference, choose an answer as solution: a M2x8 screw fits
