Repair guides and disassembly information for the 14-inch MacBook Pro released in October of 2021, featuring Apple-designed M1 Pro and M1 Max SoCs. Model A2442.

no sound from external speakers

I had to replace the original speakers, there was no sound and videos wouldn't play--error message appeared linking audio problem with inability to play video.

New speakers don't sound, video freezes up, but everything is fine if I use airpods, as the computer recognizes them as a new audio source

Everything else is ok with the computer

Sounds like you have two issues here!

The first is a messed up headphone jack MacBook Pro 14" (A2442, A2779, A2918, A2992) and 16" (A2485, A2780, A2991) Headphone Jack

The jack also has a set of switches which push the signal between external and internal speakers.

I also think one of your internal speakers has a problem as well.
