Replacing the top case could resolve the keyboard issue, but it's unlikely to resolve the trackpad issue as the trackpad does not directly connect to the top case assembly. It sounds like there's a chance the keyboard and trackpad may have experienced some sort of damage, in which case there could be damage on the main logic board as well. I would recommend inspecting the condition of the main logic board for other signs of damage. If the logic board is in good condition, then replacing the top case will likely fix the keyboard issue, and replacing the trackpad would likely fix the trackpad issue.
