How to clean out the mess the battery made?

So I think this was the faulty battery that never got replaced by apples fault.
It still turns on but the battery is degraded.

Hi @beanman56,

I would start with a clean, lint free cloth moistened (not dripping) with IPA99%+ and try to wipe away any corrosion etc.

Wipe over any spot once and then select a clean area of the cloth and wipe over the same area again. Keep repeating with a clean section of the cloth each time until it is as clean as you can get it.

Always wiping only the once with a clean moistened section of the cloth means that you won't be spreading any corrosive particles to other areas.

If a cloth is too big or awkward then try a Q-Tip but again only wipe the one time, each time. May take a fair number of Q-Tips though ;-)

Takes a while but in the end it's worth it.
