Certain Buttons Won’t Work

The 1,5 and subtraction button on my calculator won’t work. Can this be fixed or should I just buy a new one?

A goggle search shows current (2022) prices between $13-$22. Electronic calculators in general are not repairable.

Hi,

Use a Q-Tip lightly moistened (not dripping wet) with Isopropyl Alcohol 99%+ (available at electronics parts stores) to clean the contact surfaces of the board for the buttons that don't work.

Do not clean the contact surfaces of the buttons themselves as you may remove the conductive coating from the underside of the button.

Here's the ifixit Texas Instruments TI-30Xa Teardown guide that will help. Go to Step.5 to view the image of the board showing the button contacts on the board.
