A 15-inch non-touchscreen laptop manufactured by Lenovo in 2018.

Device isn’t turning on.

So one day, I turned off my laptop before going to school and it was functioning completely fine. Then the next moment when I come home from school, I turn the laptop on and the power on light turns on for a 5 seconds before turning back off. The fan doesn’t even turn, plugged in it not. I tried using the power drain method, restarting the bios with the Novo Button with the paper clip and reseating the RAM but nothing is going great. Any ideas, anyone?

Hi,

Does it do this with the charger connected?

Yes even with the battery detached or attached, with the charger plugged in, the same error follows.

Hi there, Could you fix it ? I've got the same issue, and i can not resolve with any solution in Lenovo's supports web site and this

I unplugged the battery, de external charger, the cmos battery, pluged all back into the motherboard but nothing, when i press the NOVO button or power button i got the power on light for 2 or 3 seconds and then turns off...

Hi,

I know you said that "I tried using the power drain method....." and that this didn't work but was it the full power refresh method?

By this I mean did you disconnect the cmos battery from the motherboard as well?

If not try the following:

  • Disconnect the charger if connected.
  • Disconnect the main battery from the motherboard.
  • Disconnect the cmos battery from the motherboard. Here's the ifixit Lenovo IdeaPad S340-15IWL CMOS Battery Replacement guide that will help.
  • Press and hold the power button operated for a full 30 seconds and then release it.
  • Reconnect the cmos battery, reconnect the main battery, reassemble the laptop, reconnect the charger and check if it turns on.

Yes, I have tried this method along with the CMOS battery too. And the results are the same. And when I press the Novo button, similarly to when I press the power button, the light turns on for 5 seconds then turns back off.

@Antoine Morrison

Was the laptop dropped or did it get wet at all?

Obvious I know but it seems that there's a motherboard problem.

Having the schematics may help to find out what's wrong.

If the motherboard's make and model number is Compal LA-H101P then searching online for it finds plenty of suppliers for it. Unfortunately you have to buy it. I couldn't find a free download.
