Hi @tongrick,

What is the make and model number of the water heater?

Have you operated the release lever on the pressure relief valve so that it opens to release the pressure in the tank, then release the lever so that it closes again and check if it stops leaking?

It may take a few minutes to stop dripping until it finally closes fully again.

pressure relief valves do develop leaks and can be easily replaced. However, after my neighbor did that his tank started leaking. The two were not connected, the heater was just old.
