Weird psychedelic patterns appearing.

My Mac has decided to add weird, entirely random, colourful psychedelic patches into my black and white photographs. This is extremely annoying.

Does anyone know what might be causing this please?

Thanks.

Not good ;-{

Did you drop or bang your system or at some point remove the display off to get inside?

This looks like T-CON board issue within the display assembly. To be sure plug in an external monitor to the Thunderbolt ports to see if the problem is visible within it if not then the internal display will need to be replaced.

@danj mightn't it be file corruption? Looks like what you can get with cross-linked files.

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@uchetil - If we read the OP's problem we see "colourful psychedelic patches into my black and white photographs." So more than one photo is effected.

Yes, it's possible the issue is within the file (corruption).

But, if it is happening across many photo files its more likely the image is requesting a higher scan rate (deeper pixel depth) which means either the displays T-CON scan frequency is being pushed to the higher from the default the finder uses or the GPU's Video RAM is messed up.

@danj thanks.

It's not happening all the time but it does effect colour photographs too. I'm not a very techie bloke and if it's anything more difficult than moderately easy to fix, I may have to reluctantly scrap it a buy a new computer.
