Was the battery new? If it was used, I think you might have bought a bad one.
Apple usually doesn’t produce faulty electronics, so I think if the battery was new we could rule out being a faulty battery.
Does the computer completely shut off or maybe just the screen goes black and you can hear sound?
If its completely off, then I think the connector that bridges the power supply (battery) and the motherboard could be having problems. I am not an expert on mac but if it is a removeable cord and its not a direct port then you should definetly replace that.
Use an electricity detector (you probably don’t have one) they sell them at places like home depot and stuff. Put the corded dectectors on the power sources where the damage might be while the computer is plugged in (beware of electrical shock, weak gloves) and see if the power is fluctuating. If it is then it is most likely damaged.
