In June 2017 Apple updated its 13" MacBook Air with a newer Broadwell Intel Core i5 processor, resulting in slightly increased performance and battery life.

LCD Only Replacement Guide Request

Goodmorning to everyone!

I have an Early 2017 13” MacBook Air and my LCD is damaged (black corner).

Since replacing the entire LCD and shell assembly is quite expensive, is it possible to replace the LCD only? (It costs a third!)

And if so, is there a guide to do so? I only found some guides relative to the older or 11” model… Are they the same inside?

Thanks in advance for helping! (And sorry for my poor English!)

Stay healty!

While you are right replacing the LCD panel on its own would be cheaper. The issue is finding the correct LCD panel as well as the needed work is not as simple as it appears!

Behind the panel is a collection of plastic sheets which manage the backlight pathway so the screen gets an even wash of light. Often people damage these sheets or get them dirty which causes image illumination issues.

Unless you have the correct panel, have a spotless work space and can manage the dust levels in the air. It would be just smarter to replace the full assembly.

Sorry we don’t offer panel replacement guides as its so tricky to get right.
