MacBook only boots without battery installed

Fitted a new battery and macbook powered on fine. however I did not notice that it was not charging until it became flat.

On investigation I found that the MagSafe connector on the laptop had shorted.

I fitted a new one but the laptop will not boot with the battery installed.

I can boot without the battery and every thing is fine.

My question is how can I revive this new battery? The test button on the battery shows one green led lit.

You’ll need to do some sleuthing!

You likely have a burn’t MOSFET within the charging logic so power is not getting to the battery. Are you knowledgeable on how to read a schematic and use of a DVM? If you are you’ll need to find the schematic and boardview drawings of the main logic board to probe the power rails and test the MOSFET’s.

Your other opton is just replace the logic board MacBook Core 2 Duo Logic Board Replacement

Now the hard question! Is it worth the investment?

Thanks for your prompt answer.

I am ok with DVM and circuits but as you say is it worth it to replace Mobo?

I will look at prices and make a decision
