My LG OLED55G1GTPA mute and unmute function.

When using the TVs remote, the mute function works but only for say 30 seconds after which the sound comes back on without anyone touching the remote. Most inconvenient. The set was bought new one month ago (August 2021). I have external speakers connected via HDMI cable.

Hi @gra27 ,

Try the following just to isolate where the problem may be.

Set the TV to mute and then remove the batteries from the TV remote and also from the external speaker’s remote if they have one. (in case the external speakers are connected to a remote controllable audio receiver and it is connected to the TV’s HDMI(ARC) port) and check if the audio still restores or not.

Perhaps also check in the TV menus, if the TV has the latest software Ver. 03.15.36 installed in case it is a programming bug. I realize that you said you only got it last month but the latest software is dated 27/07/21 and perhaps the TV was manufactured before this and not updated. I suggest if the TV is “online” that you check the software via the TV menu options rather than use the link provided in case I’ve linked the wrong model. Installing the wrong software can brick a TV whereas the menu option will ensure that the correct one is accessed and installed if required.

Thanks jayeff. I tried those suggestions, however the problem persists. I also checked my software from the TV menu options as you suggested and yes there was an update. It now running 3.15.95. (this is an Australian model). I will take up the problem with LG Australia. One other thought was possibly a new HDMI cable may fix it, also I'll see if the problem persists when just using the TV sound out and not the attached active speakers(Kef LS 50 11 wireless). I should have done that earlier.

Thanks again.

@gra27

Try using another connection option to the speakers if available e.g. optical or digital coax, also perhaps a non ARC HDMI port in the TV, just in case it is a compatibility problem between the speakers and the TV and not the TV.

Noticed that the speakers also had a recent update as well

In the Support menu, Switching to **Home Mode** ensures that your personal settings, like mute, stay as expected.
