my a6000 LCD does not turn on after disassembling it for thermal fix and assembling it back. Everything else works just fine only LCD not turning on. What could be the issue, any idea and suggestions?

Hi,
With the camera on try shining a torch at an angle close to the LCD screen and check if you can detect any images at all on the screen, e.g. menus or picture etc.
They will be very faint if they are there so trying this in a darkened room may help.
If you can see images then there is a backlight problem.
Check if the LCD screen’s backlight power flex cable has been securely connected to the motherboard. Here’s an image from the Ifixit Sony α6000 LCD Screen Replacement guide that shows the backlight power cable.

First of all, thanks a lot for the response. I just found that the flex cable that connects entire LCD to motherboard has very minor damage on the pins. When I kept the “camera on” for a while the LCD does not heat up at all, would that mean there is no power supply to the entire LCD due to flex cable damage? what other possible issues?
I’m trying to use an external monitor to turn on the view finder and use it until LCD is fixed.
I have the same issue but my screen shows image when I light it with a flashlight. My flex cable seems to be ok, I measured continuity across the flexcable but when I tried to measure the voltage on that smaller backlight connector on the display flex cable there was 0v (yes camera was on). What voltage should I find there? Im worried that my mainboard is broked and does not supply voltage to display backlight. But I also tried supplying 5v to that display connector and it did not turned the backlight on too so I do not know how to test it. Maybe I just need a new lcd or the mainboard is broken too. Any advice? Im not sure if it is worth to try to order a new lcd.
I have the exact same problem as @mohanlald and would like your advice. My camera turns on and EVF works, but the screen does not turn on. I have not tested the display under dim conditions yet. I bought a replacement screen, but after installing it, my A6000 still does not turn on the main screen. I then took the whole camera apart and found a tiny damage to the right most pin of the LCD display flex cable. Would this be sufficient to cause black display?
Was the pin damaged on the new LCD unit's video flex cable?
If you mean the pin on the video cable that is closest to the smaller backlight power cable connected to the LCD unit, looking at the block diagram on p.4-1 (p.7/54 pdf numbering) of the service manual I linked in the answer below it shows that it is the CSX lead - LC-1018 FLEXIBLE BOARD CN-8040 connector that connects to the LCD unit. Not sure what it's function is but it is grouped in with the other control leads to the LCD unit so it may have something to do with how the display behaves.

It could be both the motherboard and the LCD.
Here's the service manual that may help.
On p.16 of 54 (Sect. 6-4) it shows the backlight fuse F0004 on the SY-1028 BOARD (1/23)
Can't find the voltage for the LCD but suspect it is 3V. (I know the fuse says 36V but it is the current rating of 0.25A that is important).
Perhaps the LCD backlight circuit is faulty and it blew the fuse I don't know.
What resistance do you measure when testing between the backlight power wires into the LCD display? It should not be 0.00 Ohms

Thanks for your help. The service manual came in handy. I checked all the fuses, all the tracks, everything is fine, up to this point I still don't understand what could have happened because suddenly today it started working again. I ordered a new display, but I don't think I'll need it anymore. The old display was fine, I just wanted to try the new one and thought it would fix itself somehow and if not I would solder some 3.3V LDO somewhere in the camera and then connect it to the display backlight with some wires behind the flex cable as a last possible solution. But I literally don't need to do it anymore because as I said it's weird and I don't know how it fixed itself but today I turned on the camera just like for fun as I was bored home and it works... (hope it won't fail again because I need to change the shutter and I'll dissasamble the camera soon again when a new shutter will arive)
I am facing the same problem as we speak, I've changed screens but still no change. I just hope there was a way around this problem
Did you find a fix by chance? I changed my display but it still doesn’t work.

Hello everyone,
To summarize, I have the same problem as @mohanlald. Everything else functional, but the display is black. Replaced with new screen, but it did not fix anything. I then suspected a problem with the LCD display/flex cable and then disassembled the whole camera. I noticed a very tiny copper piece missing from the LCD display cable. I could not get my camera to focus on something so small, so I created a few graphics to explain the potential problem. Just wondering if that missing piece of copper is enough to cause a black display.
