Not turning on, despite full charge

My iPod has no issue connecting to my computer, connecting to iTunes, syncing, and charging. However, when I unplug it from the computer it no longer works. No matter what I do, there is no status light, no sound, nothing. The power switch definitely works, as the charging light is responding to input from the power switch.

I have a 1st gen shuffle that does exactly the same thing that I haven’t bothered to fix. Sounds like the battery is cooked, will need to be replaced and unfortunately that isn’t exactly easy and requires soldering (hence why mine is just sitting in a drawer while I use my modded 5th gen classic). If you haven’t done advanced repairs before, I recommend finding a professional near you to service the iPod.
