Can I swap LCDs on 2 generation MacBookpros?

Hi

I have 2 MacBookPros 15":

baught in 2010: MacBookPro6,2 (A1286) with an Intel HD graphics and LCD 1789x1050

baught in 2011: MacBookPro8,2 (A1286) with an Intel HD graphics 3000 and LCD 1400x900

I would like to swap the displays (put the higher def screen on the newer/faster mac). Would that be possible?

thanks

patrick

Thanks

so, even though the LCD's are of different resolution, the connections and the graphic cards supports them all?

Cheers

Patrick

Yes, if you follow the link I provided in my previous comment it explains that.

Yes, all the 15" MacBook Pro Unibody's take the same LCD. Some may be high-res and some low-res, but all are cross-compatible.

+ Matt is correct on this. Here is another iFixit thread that discusses the compatibility: Will this screen fit my MBP?
