Possible to add a blade SSD to the original base model A2116?

In the A2116 teardown (the base model with no Fusion Drive), the connector for the Apple blade SSD is not loaded, and hence you cannot upgrade the miserably slow hard drive to a blade SSD.

Question : Could you upgrade this just by adding the SSD connector, or are there other components required to support the SSD that are also not loaded?

There are quite a few parts which you would need and the SSD connector is custom!

You could replace the logic board, depending on which model you got it might be a opportunity to also upgrade your CPU. Otherwise, best to sell yours and get another one with the blade SSD installed (not Fusion)

Thanks Dan. I have the connector (taken from a donor 820-00165-A) so that is not a problem. Could you elaborate on what other parts are required please?

@ranaraych - I've never tried!

Best to refer to the schematics and boardview drawings and if you have a donor board compare across them.
