Which is the better MacBook Pro 13.3" retina?
Hi Folks,
Good day!
One of my friend who is relatively new to MacBook usage, is planning to buy a used MacBook Pro. In OLX, he has drilled down into two final choices and would like to seek your advice/suggestion as to which of the MBP would be better.
Option 1:
MacBook Pro Early 2015, 13.3" Retina, 256 GB SSD, i5 Processor, 2.7 GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM. The device looks completely new without any dents/scratches but with battery cycle count of 525 priced for Rs. 50,000/- (680 USD)
Option 2:
MacBook Pro Mid 2014, 13.3" Retina, 256 GB SSD, 3Ghz Intel Core i7, 16 GB RAM. The device comparitively looks little slightly dull with dents on the edges. But the battery has been newly replaced. Currently with 55 Cycle Counts priced for Rs. 55,000/- (748 USD).
Which one does he need to prefer? He will be doing work on the Microsoft Office apps, extensive browsing and wireframe tools.
Thanks in advance for your opinion guys.

Hi @danj , meed another suggestion from you. Adding on to it, he is now looking to buy either of the device:
Option 2:
Macbook pro 2017 non touch bar 13.3” retina, 2.3 ghz, i5 processor, 8GB RAM, 128GB SSD with a decent cosmetic look without much dents or scratches for same price.
Which one do you suggest as better one?

Hands down Option-1 !!
The Fn models don't offer any upgradability. The Early 2015 offers upgradable storage (PCIe/NVMe interface blade drive).

Yes @danj , Got it. But I have seen some videos where we can upgrade the SSD using converters, And looks like it is kinda working solution.
Apart from Storage are there any other good things that can make 2017 a upper hand?

Sorry no the Early 2015 is a much better system! I have two my self I wouldn't go with anything newer until a M1 is intro'ed in the 16" model.
