internal display only works when an external display is connected

the internal display only works when a external via HDMI is connected, at that time both internal and external work perfectly, disconnect external and nothing but garbled horizontal lines, replaced logic board and display with no positive result still same symptoms

Your logic board has a problem somewhere within the video logic. What you are seeing is the loading of HDMI port appears to act as a signal load as the internal one has failed.

Someone with good board diagnostic & micro soldering should be able to fix your logic board. Otherwise you’ll need a new logic board.

I thought the same thing at the beginning but after REPLACING the logic board as I mentioned the problem is unchanged, I also replaced the retina Display and nothing changed, the only thing that i have not changed is the daughter board

@appleheadrepair - I'm wondering if you have a bad ground. What happens when your system is not connected to the MacSafe charger is that acting differently?

same exact result already checked that and swapped ssd to rule out any Apple OS X quirks, something happens when the hdmi port requests connection . This is very odd situation .

I will check the I/O (daughterboard) in the morning and see if there is possibly some kind of foreign debris in the hdmi port or damage there, but then its highly unlikely to be the culprit. Just plugging in the hdmi cable does nothing, it has to complete the connection and see the extra display, which originally I was sure meant the GPU switching got messed up but a complete replacement board same exact symptoms ??
