Why is my kindle only working while plugged in?

My kindle works fine, but it only turns on when plugged in. Even at 100% battery this still happens

@lincolnpratt even so your battery may show 100% I would suggest that you start by replacing it. Then re-evaluate. Kindle Fire HD 2013 Battery Replacement
