iPod nano 2007? blue screen (of death?)

I discovered an old iPod nano of mine and I am trying to fire it up again. I put it on a charger overnight but it is stuck on a blue screen. I hear clicking when I navigate with the controls but nothing besides that. Has anyone ever had this happen and found a solution to reset or reboot it into service again?

If you are hearing clicking, it likely has a failed micro hard drive. Usually those will freeze up on the Apple logo though…. So that’s a bit odd. Have you tried the hard reset process for that model?
