As I read more and more on various blogs (iFixit included!), I find myself driven more strongly to advocate repair and refurbishment as being preferable to discarding and replacing our electronics. Every item that we can save by replacing just the faulty components equals resources saved and planetary disposal/reclamation capacity conserved.

crwdns2890332:0How do you fix a Mac backlight?crwdne2890332:0Hi Matthew! Great question! (1) This issue IS fixable despite what the big bitten fruit may claim. (2) This issue will require more knowledge and tooling than a Pro-Tech kit alone. This repair will require board level diagnostics and micro-soldering to repair most likely - although it is certainly possible that replacing the display panel alone may resolve the issue. (3) I would advise testing with a known-good display panel and then proceeding from there. Cheers! Joshua
crwdns2890332:0cost for power supplycrwdne2890332:0Hi Troy! It appears that a PSU for your Late 2015 27” Core i5 iMac can be found here for $74.99 used. Of course, Apple does not sell replacement units directly, so the secondary market (like eBay) is your only choice…
crwdns2890332:0Mac doesn’t reach Home Screen, just a flashing question mark disccrwdne2890332:0Hi James! Your mac is not seeing the operating system. This can be a failed hard drive or a bad operating system installation.
crwdns2890332:0Error code on Canon PrixmaMX320crwdne2890332:0Disconnect the printer and check if both the cartridge and the printer are clean. Then put the cartridge back in the printer, if the error persists press and hold down the STOP/RESET button for at least 15 seconds.
crwdns2890332:0Very Weird Boot Up Issue - Ram Errorcrwdne2890332:0IT seems likely that there is something wrong with one of the common factors - one of the things that is *not* getting changed. Is it possible that some of the grounding foil in the iMac housing is making contact with the board in a sensitive spot? Did you replace any removed polymide(?) tape…? Sometimes that magic tape is actually magic, lol… Also, do you have a photo of that original failed cap on the first logic board?
crwdns2890332:0MacBook Pro still overheats after replacing thermal paste.crwdne2890332:0This is most likely a failed GPU. This unit is in the right age group and the described symptoms match pretty well.
crwdns2890332:0Charger will not plug into Chromebookcrwdne2890332:0Hi! This is repairable - the question is whether or not it can be done for a reasonable amount. Find a local shop with a good reputation that does soldering work. They should be able to give you a quote pretty quickly - as a comparison - we do any laptop power jack for $149 at our shop here in Portland, OR.
crwdns2890332:0Not working at allcrwdne2890332:0In the event of sudden loss of functionality, you likely have one of two things going on: (1) If the unit was dropped, perhaps the USB-C charging port has physical damage. (2) The M92T36 charging chip may have failed.
crwdns2890332:0My touchpad does not click - however if I tap it works.crwdne2890332:0Sometimes the battery will swell in these causing the trackpad click to not work any longer. I’d suggest bringing it to any competent local shop (not Apple) for a quote.
crwdns2890332:0Laptop shuts off when I unplug the chargercrwdne2890332:0Your battery is bad from the sounds of it. It may be saying that it is at 96% capacity, but it likely is not accurately self-reporting any longer.
