Traditionally the Surface Book series has used M.2 SSDs, but it’s not for the feint of heart. As you can see from the Surface Book 2, it’s just a normal SSD - the disassembly process is the problem.
The SSD in these is buried in the machine so far you need to gut it to swap it. Unless your SSD is dead, you’re risking the entire machine for a SSD upgrade. Leave it be and buy a USB SSD. On top of being insanely difficult, it will void the warranty.
