You can’t upgrade the board to a 2017 in that machine. Unfortunately just about everything is soldered to the board in your model and would cost more to upgrade, if it’s possible, compared to just buying a used upgraded version of what you already have.

Thanks @hootonberg. I stand corrected. 2015 was the last model for MBA 11 inch. So I hope you answer changes!!

The SSD is socketed so you can put in a larger one but the drives I/O in this series is limited to mSATA.

Sadly, RAM is soldered to the logic board so you would need to swap out the logic board if you have a 2 GB and the only other option is a 4 GB board.

As for swapping out the logic board to a newer version, Apple altered too many things to make that possible. I agree with Jesse ( @hootonberg ) you would be better off getting a newer model on the used market.

Thanks @danj, how about swaping 2011 to 2015 logic board to upgrade cpu, gpu, ram and io?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

While the logic boards have the same basic shape there are differences which make this swapping to a 2013 or higher not possible.

Great, thanks @danj, so does that mean I can swap to 2012 logic board?
