Pins Broken that connect Logic Board to Power Supply

Block Image

I was trying to upgrade the memory on the logic board. When I was trying to remove the connector from the logic board, I pushed down on the connector instead of the tab on the connector. I bent the pins almost straight down . When tried to re-connect the connector, I broke three of the pins. Are the pins replaceable or is it better to get a replacement logic board…?

Yep! You killed the connecter!

It might be possible to replace the connector. You’ll need to find someone with a junker logic board to de-solder the connector and solder the replacement on your board. Otherwise you’ll need a new logic board.

Update (06/05/2020)

The Logic board power connector is located on the back side and is a side entry connector so it’s hard to see. Here’s the location on the logic board:

Does a new logic board come with the connector pins...? When I look at the picture of the logic board sold here, it doesn’t look like it...

@danj Thanks for looking into my issue... Oh, if I order a new logic board does it come with those pins. I don't see it when i blow-up the picture of it on this site...

The connector is soldered on and is part of the logic board. I have never seen one that was missing it! Trust me! The part is there!

Alright, I’m sold... I will order one today... Still kicking myself for breaking those pins like that... anyway... $99 logic board is better than $1200+ for a new iMac... L0L...!
