MacBook Air SSD Upgrade Options

Hello,

I’m really keen to upgrade my current 128GB SSD in my MacBook Air as for the last five years it’s constantly been a storage battle.

I want a 500GB SSD however whilst doing research, I’ve become confused with ‘NvME’ ‘PCIe-based’ ‘Gen 2 x2/4’. I’m not sure what I’m looking for anymore…

I mainly use MS Office and Music software as I’m a teacher and will also want to clone my existing SSD. So… what do I need to buy? and how can I clone my SSD? (I live in the UK).

Any advice is appreciated!

James :)

Use migration assistant / time machine backup to migrate data from one mac to another.

Basically you'd be backing up the data from that SSD in that Macbook to a portable hard drive to restore to a replacement upgrade SSD after installing MacOS on it.
