White screen but still works on an external monitor

So I’ve got an A1534 Macbook which boots to a white screen, it’s still working and on an external monitor you can still use it. I’ve already replaced the ribbon cable but to no avail.

I was just wondering if anyone had any known fixes outside of replacing the entire display assembly?

edit: the MacBook is broken in the first place as a result of it being closed when an earring was inside it (just at the back near the hinge) and apparently since then it hasn’t worked. There is some damage on the front of the device but not the screen itself https://imgur.com/i98A6W6
