Why cant I get the screen to power on?

it used to come on the screen but now nothing and the comp boots

Hook it up to an external monitor to try to isolate the problem. Hold a flashlight at an angle to the screen and see if you can discern the desktop. Move the screen up and down and see if any changes take place. Let us know your results and we can go from there.

Over time, display cables can rub aginst the case and they stop working

Check if the connectors need to be reseated, if they do, reseat them

If they are secure, the LVDS cable may be bad, replace it and report back

If this dosen't help, I would imagine the GPU has come loose, remember, this computer is from 2001, so that could be possible
