What is this tiny silicon rubber part?

I was cleaning my K400 this morning and pulled out the pod holder and the tray below that. This part was in the tray (pen shown for scale). I would guess it goes over one of the needles? Which way is up?

Hi, same exact thing happened to me today while cleaning my Keurig. Did anyone figure out where this tiny piece goes???

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Nope, I'm guessing it goes over on of the upper needles, but not sure which one or wich way up. I might just try all possibilities.

Well, I was going to post a photo of where this goes (to answer my own question & whomever else may need this info as well), but I don’t seem to have the ability to attach a photo.

Simply put, it goes on the needle head that the coffee pod sits on. I believe this little silicone/rubber piece acts as a cushion, holding the coffee pod in place & preventing the grounds from coming out. Slip it on the “needle head” so that the larger end is on the bottom.

Same problem a few days ago. Keurig sent me a replacement cup holder at no charge, priority mail (after trying to sell me a new unit). The piece slides over the bottom needle of the cup holder. The larger circle/end of the rubber sleeve was on top.

Looks like bottom needle with the big end up! Thank you "Name"! If you would be so kind as to add your comment as an answer I'll accept it.

I experienced the same issue recently. Keurig customer service could not provide an answer, because the model has been discontinued. They did, however, send me a replacement K-cup holder via priority mail. Upon my inspection of the new cup holder, I observed the silicone piece situated over the needle located inside and on the bottom of the cup holder. The larger circular end of this sleeve was closest to the top of the needle.

Thank you! Same problem, this was a super easy fix now that I know where it goes. :)

Kevin Hollingshead  appears to be the seal around the puncture needle. Take a look on here How to open and clean Keurig Coffee Maker at Step 2. Different model same idea.

Thanks, Mr. O, but the bottom needle seems to be too short. But thanks for the indirect tip to find cleaning vids/guides. Keurigs parts support sucks. A nice exploded view would help.

My kurig will not poke a large enough hole and water and grounds overflow! I have cleaned it and ordered a new pod holder/needle and still same issue???

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

I had the problem with the bottom needle and overflow of the pod due to not letting the water back out. Putting the pod in place then removing and placing it in a different place and punching a second hole in the k-cup temporarily fixed it. A closer look and removing the silicon sleeve on the needle seems to have solved that problem. That little ‘sleeve’ is a very efficient stopper!!

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Yeah water was coming back up from the top. I've had this one for a few months with NO issues (previous v.2 lasted 6 years). I removed that silicone sleeve on the needle and it's working fine now...just wondering if this is OK???

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

@rosannedobbs it will be okay. By removing the O-ring you just get the needle deeper into the cup. For as long as you do not get a leak or to much debris where the O-ring used to sit, you will be ok.
