PS4 not turning on, power supply already changed

Dear all,

I bought on the Internet a broken used PS4; the owner told me that he went on vacation and, after 2 weeks, the console wasn’t turning on and so he decided to sell it.

The console was never been opened and so I decided to try and change the power supply with a good working one. The console still doesn’t turn on and it won’t beep even shorting the “pad“ on the mainboard with a screwdriver.

Considering that there is not any schematic document for the PS4 on the Internet, would you please help me identify the problem and maybe tell me where should I begin to check things at component-level?

Thanks in advance.

Roberto

The power plug is fine and fine are all the cables that plug into the mainboard.

I also think it's something with the mainboard, I would like to know if I have to check some capacitor/resistance in particular to see if something is shorted to ground.

Most common issue is the power supply that stopped working (if it’s not booting up), but you replaced it already.

I think the motherboard is broken to be honest. Did you checked the power plug at the backside? All OK there ?

You can also check if a capacitor became faulty on the motherboard.

Do you know the exact type of your motherboard ? (example: SAB-001). And also don't forget to check the 2 pins (for the PSU) on the motherboard and the 3-4 pin connector for the power supply. You can measure if power is coming in.

Also measure if the two big pins for the PSU are shorted to ground from a continuity test.

Hi, sorry for the late answer; the mainboard is a SAB-001 and yes, 5V are coming out on the connector on the mainboard and the 2 probes are NOT shorted to ground. Since there are no schematics available on the web, do you have some more suggestion? I tried measuring some components with the PU plugged in and I can measure 3.3V on some components but I have no clue what they are and what's their function...
