This new generation of console features heavy focus on social media and cloud-based storage. The console also offers interactivity through Remote Play with the PlayStation Vita and second-screen features for tablets. The DualShock 4 controllers feature a touchpad control in addition to a new Share button to enable posting to social media sites.

The PS4 differs from its predecessor by ditching the PS3's curves for a more angular design. The console is similar in size to the PS3 Slim with the "Sony" and "PS4" logos located at the front of the console. There is also a new external LED light that turns blue when the console is turned on and turns red when the console is overheating.
