white bar on black screen : dead /hot pixels?

Hi dear community!

I have just noticed this strange whitish bar, only really visible in black setups like movies (at max backlit) on this mid 2010 macbook that I have just got. It is not bothersome at all as it is but I am wondering if it is a sign of something more serious that will expand over time. I do not mind if it stays as it is. I have done already a safe mode check (still visible).

Please let me know if you have an idea! I may need to give the MB back quickly if the problem needs a screen replacement.

Thanks!

Likely a pressure mark from pressing down on the keyboard.

Hi Dan! Thank you for your reply! I was thinking this actually... so that means it won’t get worse, right ?

Well... Yes, if you take the pile of books off of it ;-}

I saw one like this where a pencil had been left pn the keyboard.

Dear @mayer @danj, thank you a lot for your comforting replies. The tech at official certified store said she 'cannot be sure of the outcome' but 'does not think it too serious'. Have a good day!

That has something to do with the lcd itself. To narrow your problem down has the macbook ever been dropped before?

Thank you for your reply ! I do not know. The original owner says no. If it is the lcd, Is the problem is going to get worse, like more bright pixels or even turning black?

crwdns2934271:0crwdnd2934271:0crwdne2934271:0

Over time it will get worse. I would have it opened up by a pro and tell him to look at the lcd cable. Even if the cable is damaged i would just replace the whole display. Displays for mac are 200-300 but i would check ebay for your model number and then type screen replacement. Either that or send it to louis rossman's shop in NY. If i ever own a mac i would get it inspected by him. His pricings is fair.
