HP 430 G6 Stretch Release Tape
Hello everyone,
my name is Rat and I work as a computertechnician. I recently ran into a couple of devices with lcd panel issues. To my surprise there were no screws that held the lcd panel in place.
In stead HP opted to use some sort of “stretch release tape”. Upon removal, I noticed that it wouldn’t be possible to reuse the tape, so I’m in a bit of a problem here. I tried finding the same kind of tape online, but nothing came quite close to what I needed.
I then stumbled upon this video by 3M: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xf84aWV0...
This is exactly the sort of tape I would need to do future screen replacements on such devices that have no screws to attach the LCD panel. However, I cannot find a single webshop or website with such tape on offer.
Any kind of help resolvin this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Ratje

I'm encountering this also on an HP laptop screen. I have YARDS of very strong double sided carpet tape. Why not use that? Available at ANY hardware store, dirt cheap, and if you have to remove the screen again it will only be because it's already BROKEN, so what difference does it make if you basically rip it to pieces in that process, assuming that ever even becomes necessary again.

if you cant get the stretch tape, get some thin 3m vhb . a couple of bits of that and the screen wont go anywhere. if the screen breaks, you just rip it out. its not ideal, but it does work. do be very careful when you fit the screen though, as if you dont get it right, you will have to ruin the screen to get it out....you may get away with lots of isopropyl to dissolve the glue though, worth a try.
