OWC SSD not showing up in disk utility

I purchased OWC Aura Pro 6G SSD for Macbook Air 11" and 13" (Mid 2012) / 480 GB and the envoy ssd enclosure. I installed the new SSD into my computer, placed my old drive into the enclosure and plugged thus into my laptop. After booting into utility using command R, I do not see the new OWC drive. What do I do next? The original drive is not large enough for current needs.

You'll need to create a High Sierra or better yet a Mojave bootable drive to then run the OS installer. Your systems firmware level is too old for the updated command to work. When you do the OS install the systems firmware will also be updated.
