In June 2017 Apple updated its 13" MacBook Air with a newer Broadwell Intel Core i5 processor, resulting in slightly increased performance and battery life.

MacBook Air not charging, SMC reset temporary fix

I just got a replacement Megasafe 2 charger from Apple for my MBA (Early 2017).

However, often in the battery status drop-down, i see “Battery not charging” for which SMC reset should fix..

But in my case, it only a temp. fix, it next time i plug n again, “Battery not charging” appears in battery status again. So, very frustrating. This is also a new charger, but the LED keeps going dim, so i’m turning my attention to a port issue.

System Report mentions battery condition is : Normal and cycle count is only: 148.

Sometimes i can get it to charge though.

Suggestions to fix?

If the MagSafe LED is going off and on then your I/O board board likely needs either cleaning or replacing. Try using a cotton swab (Q-Tip) just damp with some 85% isopropyl alcohol to wipe it down. Otherwise here’s the replacement part MacBook Air 13" (Mid 2013-2017) I/O Board

You really should create your own question with all of your info.

I would add, how about getting a better view of things, install this gem of an app! CoconutBattery take a snapshot of the apps main window and post it here for us to see Adding images to an existing question that is if your system is able to run at all.

Liquid spills likely need more than just the I/O board.

I have already posted a new question with all details.

And my system is running just fine and all the data is still there too, no issues with the keyboard either, if you would like to know.

Currently my macbook is with the service providers and I can only pick it up after the weekend’s over.

Please do tell me more about this “gem of an app” that sounds very intriguing to me. @danj
