Stripped Screw - Early 2009 MacBook

Block Image

In the process of replacing the optical drive on my early 2009 MacBook 5,2, I stripped this tiny little screw near the RAM slots. I tried everything ifixit suggested in their video already. Nothing worked. Is there any other suggestions? Maybe cutting the bracket?

The screw is replaceable the bracket is not!

First you’ll need to clean the area of the corrosion from the leaked battery. Try some white vinegar using a moistened cotton swab (Q-Tip)

This screw does have a slight head. I would try grabbing the edge of the screw with a pair of pliers which have a serrated jaw. If that fails then you’ll need to cut a slot into the screen head so a straight blade screwdriver can grab the screw.
