So what should i do at this point? Should i replace the logic board with a late 21.5inch 2012 imac logic board? Would that Even work? Or should I just sell my imac and put the money towards a new one?

As I stated in your other question figure out how much you are willing to put into this system. I would focus on the CPU, RAM and If you can Storage (SSD). Also consider what you are planning on using your system for.

Hi Zachary,

The best option is to find some replacement parts pulled from old iMacs, though upgrading CPU to run Mojave, isn’t possible. Too many power draw issues.

@iphonerepairman - Tim, There are solutions here without going that far.

Zachary - You should go back to your original question as the answer is there as far as upgrading your system. You can install either a i5 or i7 CPU. What cpu can I upgrade my iMac to?

As far as sliding in a 2012 logic board, sorry thats not possible! Apple altered the 21.5 system design quite radically in 2012.

An alternative to upgrading the CPU & GPU board is to replace the full logic board with the 2011 21.5” iMac with either a i5 or i7 logic board within this series iMac12,1
