Will replacing screen fix touch firmware issue.
I have a surface Pro 4 that the touch does not work. I get the yellow caution with the ! in it. The troubleshooting tells me that the Touch firmware did not install due to an error. When I try and use a firmware update it tells me the firmware is already installed. So will replacing the screen fix my firmware detection issue and get the touch working?

Well I went ahead and ordered a n-trig board and a new screen. The old one actually cracked on me. Well I replaced the screen and the n-trig. The Yellow caution went away ant the firmware loaded just fine. But the touch still does not work. I have not put the screen in with adhesive yet. My next option is to replace the ribbon cable that connects to the screen and n-trig board. This is really frustrating. I love this device and it does everything I need in a portable light powerful computer. It just annoys me that the touch does not work.

Hey Bill! Did replacing the ribbon cables, N-Trig, and/digitizer end up resolving your problem? I'm having the same issue and am about to pull the trigger on the 3 piece set. (board and both cables) Thanks in advance if you reply!

No, it did not fix the touch issue. It has to be an issue on the motherboard.

Update, I have not given up on the touch not working. I actually found a cheap new old stock motherboard. I put it in and. And it did not fix my problem. The only possibility is the n-trig board I ordered was faulty. I might order another one. They are super cheap just to bring this saga to an end.
