Black screen on boot after replacing the top lid

I got this MacBook Pro Early 2015 model, The screen is messed up, it still displays picture just the right side is cracked. I ordered a replacement screen and installed it.

On boot its black no display. If I close the lid the Apple logo lights up, then I re-open the lid and the display is fine. If I restart with or without the power adapter it boots to a black screen. I tried clearing the PRAM and EMC. Same issue.

So i reinstalled the original screen and it displays the picture right away just like it should.

What am I missing?

Where did you get the display and the P/N you used? Also did you replace the full assembly?

Well, the part number is the correct one for your system MacBook Pro 13" (Early 2015) Display. But I think you got this one MacBook Pro 13" (Late 2013-Mid 2014) Display. Which explains why your display is not working correctly.

Double check that these:

are connected properly. You can find the order in step 8 of this guide. Also double check the the LCD cable is connected properly to the screen. Sometimes if the connection isn’t solid this can happen. After all that power cycle the MacBook
