iPod Classic 6th Generation. Model A1238 / 80, 120, or 160 GB hard drive / black or silver metal front

Who is the best provider of replacement thin (650mAh) battery?

I have refurbished a few iPod Classics previously and added an SDXC card and have just replaced the battery with like for like, in order to keep the thin rear case.

Generally these batteries would then last for over 40 hours on a single charge. However recently I have found aftermarket batteries are not providing any more than 25 hours. I am going on holiday and wont be able to charge my iPod whilst away, so was looking for a 40+ hour charge but have not been able to find anything that does this.

Has anybody got recommendations of suppliers selling top quality replacements?

Obviously I could go for a 1950mAh and just use a thick back in the short term which is a fall back position, but would also like to refurb a few more iPods but would like better batteries. Do they exist any more?

Thanks

One of the best ways to gain more run time is to use a second battery which you can hookup to charge your iPod when the battery gets low. As an example when I was traveling overseas I had gotten a Morph battery (one of the first units) using the charger cable I would often just leave it hooked up while I was on the plane.

Once my drive died I looked at upgrading it to a SSD. I fell upon this Tarkan iFlash-Dual SD Card Adapter for iPod I have an older 5th Generation unit so you’ll need to check which unit you’ll need. But, I can tell you it is just great! I get almost 2 1/2 times longer play! And I get more storage than what the unit had originally. The last trip I had done from Boston to Australia (22hrs) I almost made it without charging in flight!

Yes, I use the Tarkan card adaptors when I refurb iPods and these give extended battery life, but only 20 hours is terrible

I think you've expecting more than what this iPod could ever offer without going with the bigger battery or using an external which is what I would do.
