Vertical stripes down the center of tv, bad t-con board?

The tv wasnt used for about a year, i turn it on, and there are stripes down the center of the tv. I will attempt to fix it on my own, from research, i believe it is a bad t-con board. I was just looking for a second opinion on what might be wrong with it, what i need to do to fix it, and where to order the best (but cheapest) part. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

60 inch vizio model E600i-B3

After unhooking and reconnection everything from the t-con board. Screen is now half black and half white. It can go all black While my cable is running then it will go back to half and half. I still have sound. Need help getting picture back

@chuckdedo I'm going to try to find a repair guide for you and somewhere you can buy a part. I just want to investigate to see if the it's the screen or not. To me it looks like a damaged screen but I have to make sure.

I researched a little bit more and the t con board doesn’t seem to be the problem here. T con board failures usually result in a discolored and noisy screen. This seems to be the panel. You could attempt a t con board replacement for your model as they don’t seem very expensive but that doesn’t seem to be the problem. I recommend purchasing a new TV or trying something else. If you want to attempt the replacement, I do have a few things to help you out. Remember, attempt at your own risk:

  • Here is a helpful video that shows you how to replace the t con board on your specific Vizio TV: https://youtu.be/hmZEtB9ePjg. This video also shows to replace other components on your TV also by the way.
  • Also, search on Amazon for a t con board for your TV model.

Hope that helped!

Thank you, @mikeyd123 . So i took the case off, unhooked and then reconnected the ribbons, and the other connector from the t-con. It changed the appearance of the tv when i turned it back on, now i have either a solid white screen, gray screen, or a mixture of those in stripes with black as well. If i adjust the ribbons, the screen will change. Any knowledge of this now? Im planning on still ordering a t-con and maybe even ribbons now. Thank you again

@chuckdedo That looks like pretty good news! You could try replacing the ribbons. One could be damaged and isn’t sending the correct signal. You could also just replace the whole t con board. Again, attempt this repair at your own risk. Good luck!
