The iPhone x front camera I bought here not working

So i bought a front camera here in ifixit. But when my technician install it it said face id not workibg try again later. I want to know if the front camera that I bought has a plastic covering the camera and infrared camera when you shipped it?

@ajcooke01 I think you should stay in the iphone section so that other people can know the problem with this piece. If you do not know it, it can be a big problem. How about?

Hello Francisco

That piece is synchronized with the motherboard, just like touch ID. If you replace it, you will have a new camera but it will not work for face ID.

I have not checked this personally, but too many people have had this problem.

This is the correct answer. There should probably be a note in the product description of that particular part, warning that it's a good fix for a busted camera but it will disable Face ID—I'll ask the e-commerce team for an update to alleviate any confusion. Since Apple bundled the front-facing camera together with the Face ID hardware, and since the Face ID hardware is paired to the logic board from the factory, it's unlikely we'll ever be able to simply swap the camera without breaking Face ID in the process. @francisco_tatad if you aren't happy with your purchase, all I can say is please contact our customer support team for refund and exchange options. Sorry about that!
