Can my mid 2010 iMac be upgraded to run the coming OS upgrade?

Upgrade iMac for the next 64bit OS upgrade.

Technically no, as the GPU your system has, does not support Metal. Even the 2011 models can’t either.

But it still might be possible! Check this out: macOS Mojave Patcher Tool for Unsupported Macs As Mojave is still in a beta cycle we’ll need to wait until the official release.

But there is one problem! You’ll need access to a newer Mac system to get the image file from the Apple Store when its released and then configure the installer on a thumb drive to then upgrade your older Mac.

@danj now that Mojave is out, can you update this answer?

@mayer - Don’t really have anything newer to add to this yet. I still need to redo my beta system with the release version.
