Switch A1369 Logic Board into A1466

Good evening all

Looking for any help before I start pulling things apart.

I have two MacBook Airs, both are broken in different ways.

A1369 has a smashed screen, everything else works fine.

A1466 sustained water damage and Apple genius declared its logic board a failure.

The A1466 takes charge (orange/green on mag charge) and the screens powers up (it changes to a lighter black) nothing happens until you hold the power off and it goes back to the dark black.

Now I’m wondering if I can take the logic board out of the A1369 and simply insert it into the A1466 case so I have atleast one working laptop

Or would changing the top case and screen from the A1466 onto the A1369 be an easier option.

I’d prefer to use the A1466 case as the keyboard and bottom cover are much nicer.

Changing screen from an A1466 to the A1369 is possible, you would loose the camera since connectors are different and in different positions, but if you can live with that you have your solution.

I know I’m unlikely to get a response, but did you ever attempt this? In your situation, I feel you have nothing to lose by trying. I want to put an A1466 board in my A1369, mostly for a slightly faster processor, upgrade the RAM to 8GB and for USB 3.0. However, my A1369 is still working fine, so I’m less reluctant to spend money, and trying to find a working A1466 board to try it at a cheap enough price is hard. I’m looking for a very cheap board of any spec to run as a test, with the intent to then sell it and buy the actual board I want later on. Yes, I know I could just buy a new Air, but I really don’t have the money for that, don’t mind tinkering and have had this one since new in 2011. It might end up a Trigger’s broom, but I do kind of want to eek it out for 10 years at least.
