Why is my display exhibits physical diagonal bulges.?

I have a macbook late 2011. It was working good. In the last 20 days i am seeing some strange behaviour in the display screen. The screen shows some bulging lines. Not sure this is due to Sleep mode heating issue in bootcamp.

The strange this is, earlier it was having only one patch of line. But day by day its increasing and i am left with 5 to 6 lines of patches. I can able to feel the patches when i move my finger on the display.

Since its emitting some pungent smell, i remove the display screen and using them as a Headless Linux Server. Thank you everyone for your suggestions. Closing this issue now.

Those lines are the pattern of the polarizing film of the lcd and shouldn't show up in normal circumstances..I've seen them just on Lcds that had suffered liquid damage and humidity got trapped inside.

Sometimes some moderate dry heat and time help liquid to escape and the pattern disappears on its own.

It might be one day the Lcd suffered water damage ? If now your Mac is in a place with high relative humidity it may be some residues are absorbing water from the air.

Given the fact they are changing from finger pressure tells us this is liquid caught inside of the display sandwich. Something spilled into the lid and now its caught between the layers.

Time to take the display apart and clean things up. Here's the IFIXIT guide: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD Panel Replacement

Nirmal Kumar just like @arbaman is already saying, you have humidity that is affecting your diffuser sheets. High humidity and heat from the LED's are cooking your sheets and causing the lines to show up and what you feel is the crinkling of the sheet from this. You could possibly disassemble the actual display panel and dry out/replace the diffuser sheets.

I believe your LCD is expanding I dint know how it would but its possible . Further investigation is needed. Id check into that over heating issue you mentioned. Try keeping the machine open and shut down regularly. and then keep me in the loop!
