Thermal plate causing screen to go black

Anyone have experience with a damaged thermal plate? Replacement screen/digitizer did not come with a thermal plate so I transferred from the broken screen. New screen lights up when connected but when I plug in the thermal plate cable the screen goes black. When I unplug it the screen comes back on. Will a new thermal plate fix this?

I would go back through this guide to be certain that it was assembled properly. It might be pinching the small backlight flex, which you can see in Step 21 next to the tweezers.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have confirmed correct assembly. I am still having the issue. After going through the guide I realize the cable I am connecting that causes the screen to go black is the home button cable (which of course runs up the backside of the thermal plate). With this clarification - do you have any additional thoughts about why connecting the home button cable would cause an otherwise fully operational display to stop working? Appreciate any suggestions

It could be caused by a tear on the Home Button Link cable or damage to the connector. However, that would normally only affect Home Button actions or Touch ID. You could try to re-assemble your original screen to see if the issue persists.
