DO you get the "tingling" feeling while the iPad is plugged into the charger? This could be caused by a poorly (electrically) isolated charging brick or computer. If this is the case, it can be very dangerous.

As for the heat, does it feel abnormal hot or did you just never notice this before? It's hard to say based on your comments but there may be something wrong with your device that is causing excess current draw and therefore excess heat dissipation.
