Replaced Screen - Home Button Works But Not To Wake?

Hi All,

Just replaced a digitizer on an iPad 5 (2017 model). All went fine, was very careful.

Home Button assembly hasn't been damaged ..... but now the home button will not wake the iPad from sleep?

If I wake up the iPad from sleep using the power button, the home button works 100% , as both a button and the Touch ID - 100% functionality.

Any ideas why it won't work to wake the iPad up though?

Thanks

Alex

My thoughts point towards the magnet sensor that senses a magnet inside a case, telling the iPad to wake up if you uncover the screen. I never checked the schematics for that but considering the symptoms of your issue i guess they share the same circuit.

This sensor is soldered on and should be removed and replaced to the new assembly with a heat gun or something like that.

Thanks for that, have you got any info as to the location of this sensor? I had a quick look and there doesn't seem to be anything obviously different between the new and old assemblies?

Already moved the entire home button assembly / bracket / ribbon etc.

Could be one similar to this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gi7vmhfwvu9wtd...

This is on an Air2, so not sure. It is covered by some black tape

Thanks for that, upon further inspection the home button doesn't appear to be working as a button AT ALL!?!?!?!

It does still physically "click" and Touch ID works 100% - just not the button function?
