I purchased a newer model the 15cp something something, it has a slot for an ssd, and if you are using a hard disk it definitely has one. The envy also comes with an m.2 slot, if your local storage capacity is less than 256G from the original purchase, you are very likely to have the m.2 slot, however if not then you are most likely running of a hard disk. There is space underneath the case for the old sata style drive, however it does not come with a cable, and you would probably have to go out and buy one. Good luck!

If I upgrade the RAM, will it void the warranty?
What kind of ram will I need to buy?

I have the 2017 model the one with the mx150, 512gb , 16gb ram etc. Upon opening it up just now, I discovered everything is soldered on, except the wireless network card. In my case I have an empty space for an HDD which you can upgrade if you buy a bracket from HP or otherwise. The rubber feet will not go back on. You will need new double-sided Tape. No RAM upgrade sadly.
