Keyboard and touch pad are not responding, I can only access my mac through external keyboard and mouse, I searched online and found out that I should replace the cable of the touch pad should I? This problem seems to bother many of early 2015 MacBook Retina

Yes replace the trackpad cable, easy to do and a common failure on 2015 13" models. When this fails, all keys on the keyboard except the power button will stop responding too, since the trackpad needs to be recognised for the keyboard to work.

Yes! There's only power button left that is still working out there. Thank you guys I will have my cable replaced soon!
I have replaced the trackpad cable, but both the keyboard and the trackpad are still not working. However, I can do a SMC reset using the internal keyboard and also use the quick shutdown shortcut with shift-option-command and the power button? Any idea on what might be the problem now? Still harware related?
